C.A.T and Genny: Drive best practice, reduce utility strikes, and improve safety

Cable Avoidance Tools assist in avoiding buried cables and pipes during excavation, reducing the risk of injury to personnel and damage to utilities. The Genny4 generates signals that flow along buried utilities. The C.A.T4 detects signals, whether generated by the Genny4, inherently radiated from metallic services, or from the complementary range of Sondes (Mice).

Building on over 40 year's experience, C.A.T4 and Genny4 comprise Radiodetection’s most advanced C.A.T and Genny system to date, designed to deliver optimal performance, higher levels of safety, advanced features and at competitive cost of ownership. The Genny4 generates signals simultaneously in two frequencies, and the C.A.T4 detects these two frequencies simultaneously to give greater assurance in finding all buried services without adding complexity for users

Data Logging

Our eC.A.T4 and gC.A.T4 products are equipped with automatic usage-logging capable of holding 2 years of work history in internal memory for later analysis. The gC.A.T4 adds GPS information to the usage data to identify the position of each scan, and Bluetooth connectivity to Android and iOS devices to enable near real-time monitoring and analysis of on-site gC.A.T4 usage.

SuperCAT4

The SuperCAT4+ range is designed to target specific industry assets, using a wider selection of passive, active and sonde frequencies. Using familiar C.A.T controls and display, minimal retraining is required to access these advanced capabilities.

Drive best practice

C.A.T Manager™ Online and C.A.T Manager for PC provides a remote management system specifically designed for supervisors and safety officers, to enable them identify operators’ locating operations and drive best practice.

C.A.T Manager Online works with gC.A.T4 models to provide near-real time monitoring capabilities and cloud based data storage and analysis. At the end of each scan the C.A.T Manager Android or iOS apps, automatically transmit the comprehensive 1xsec usage data to the cloud system.

The C.A.T Manager basic account is free to use and offers access to the last 3 months’ usage, with analysis and survey reporting.

The Pro and Enterprise options have been designed in collaboration with major UK contractors to provide a range of features designed to enable teams and contracts management, more detailed survey reports and automatic alerts when the C.A.T Manager detects poor practice.

C.A.T Manager for PC utilises USB 2.0 connectivity to be able to retrieve and store locally eC.A.T4 and gC.A.T4 data logs. Data can be exported and uploaded to C.A.T Manager online for further analysis, storage and to share data across multiple sites.

Reduce strike risk
Small Cable Locate Dual-frequency locate Simultaneous dual frequency and simple locating methods help C.A.T4 and Genny4 users find small diameter cable such as telecom twisted pairs, CATV feeds, spurs and drop-offs. These lines have historically been hard to find and are a common strike risk.
Dynamic Overload Protection Radiodetection's digital signal processing lets the C.A.T4 reject electrical interference. Dynamic Overload Protection keeps C.A.T4 series products working in electrically challenging areas such as near substations and under power cables, where other locators' detection circuitry may overload and stop functioning.
Avoidance Mode™ Sweep an area using Power, Radio and Genny signals at the same time. The C.A.T4 lets operators control the sensitivity of each mode and signal, so buried utilities can be pinpointed in a single pass. Real Sound provides audio feedback taken directly from the located utility, which aids identification.
Genny4 Signal Boost Alongside its standard power mode, the Genny4 offers Signal Boost, which increases the output signal by up to 10 times to locate over extra distance and depth.
High Visibility Display with Backlight High contrast and automatic backlight illumination keep the display readable in all light conditions, which reduces the chance of misreading critical information from the unit.
Improve safety
StrikeAlert™ The optional StrikeAlert warning reduces the risk of hitting a shallow cable. It has been enhanced in the C.A.T4 range to reduce false warnings.
SWING™ Radiodetection C.A.Ts respond quickly to small detectable underground signals, but Radiodetection's research shows an operator's ability to identify buried utilities drops with careless working practices such as excessive or rapid swinging. eC.A.T4 units include sensors that detect this usage, warn the operator, and store the alert in the data log.
Service and calibration
CALSafe™ eC.A.T4 series products give a 30 day countdown warning before the calibration certificate expires, which minimizes the risk of delaying a survey. Optional CALSafe can be set to prevent the unit from operating outside the calibration period, ensuring compliance with company policy. The interval required between services can be customized within a 1 year period using C.A.T Manager.
C.A.T Manager Windows PC software that lets plant, fleet and site managers reduce down time by performing software upgrades, reproducing calibration certificates, and running online calibrations through eCert. It also turns C.A.T4 features such as StrikeAlert and SWING warnings on or off.Model dependent.
eCert™ Activated through C.A.T Manager, eCert tests the key locating circuitry within the C.A.T4 and validates its performance against the original factory calibration over the internet. After a pass, a Radiodetection calibration certificate can be printed or saved, and C.A.T Manager can reproduce the original factory certificate or any eCert certificate on demand. Radiodetection also offers factory-backed service and recalibration, including mechanical integrity inspection and function testing.
