What the XT-512 Locates — and Where It Shines
Because the XT-512 follows a 512 Hz signal source rather than a metallic line, it is well-suited to jobs where metal detection does not work:
• Non-metallic pipe. PVC, HDPE, clay, and other non-conductive pipe cannot be traced with a magnetic locator. Run a 512 Hz sonde or a camera with a 512 Hz transmitter through the line, and the XT-512 traces its path from the surface.
• Sewer and drain lines. Map a sewer lateral, trace a line from the cleanout to the main, or follow a storm line by tracking the inspection-camera head from above.
• Blockages and obstructions. When a camera or push-rod stops, the XT-512 marks the location and depth of the obstruction so excavation can be precise.
• Inspection-camera heads. Sewer-camera operators use the XT-512 to place an accurate surface mark above the camera anywhere along the run.
• Live power awareness. Passive 50/60 Hz mode helps identify energized cable in the work area to support safe excavation.
